Meet the author of Immortal Treachery!

by | Mar 20, 2018 |

Hello Folks,

Let me introduce you to Allan Batchelder, a great author, he wrote fiction book series. Here we are today willing to learn more about you. Tell us about yourself Allan. I enjoyed his book and here is your chance to meet him.

I’ve been a professional actor for most of my life, although lately I’ve been mostly confined to commercials due to my busy schedule. I was also a stand-up comedian for nine years throughout the Pacific Northwest, and I still write material for various occasions. I wrote the first book in my series, Steel, Blood & Fire in 2013. I’m currently working on the last book in the series, which I hope will come out sometime this year. None of these things pay the mortgage, however, so I’ve also been an educator for the past 27 years.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?

The Abject God is the fourth book in my series, Immortal Treachery, which begins with Steel, Blood & Fire.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?

I think writing at all with my schedule is pretty unusual, but it feeds my soul, as silly as that sounds, so I try to do it every day.

What authors/ books have influenced you?

As a stage actor, I’ve been heavily into Shakespeare my whole life. You’ll probably spot a reference or three to him or his work in my books! In terms of fantasy, wow, it’s a long list. You can assume all the usual names, but I’ll add Moorcock, Cook, Erikson, Martin, Howard, Abercrombie and a whole host of others.

Do you have any advice for new fiction authors?

Jump in! Neither the process nor the results will kill you, and you very well may find your true calling in life. What have you got to lose?

What is the best advice you have ever heard?

Tony Church, co-founder of the Royal Shakespeare Company once told me to “Kill” my “Darlings.” Apparently, this is common advice in writing. In acting, it means, do away with those gimmicks that you feel define the character. Just because he smokes in one scene, for example, doesn’t mean he smokes in every scene. Of course, George R. R. Martin takes this advice to a whole other level. Red wedding, anyone?

What are your readers saying?

My readers are happy and excited about the series. I get badgered all the time about when the next book is coming out – and I couldn’t be more thrilled. It shows people are engaged. I only post professional reviews on my Amazon page, but there are plenty of wonderful reader reviews as well.

What’s next for you as a writer?

After I finish this fifth book in this series, I’m hoping to do a Steampunk novel with my (adult) son, followed by a horror novel, and then back to fantasy.

How would you like the reader to remember you?

I’d like to be remembered as the creator of Tarmun Vykers, the most bad-assed swordsman in literature. Oh, that’s a heated competition, I know, but once you’ve met Vykers, I think you’ll agree that he’s carnage itself.

Where to get your book?

While you can order my books from all major booksellers, it is probably easiest to get it online at Amazon:

Is there anything you would like to share with my audience?

If you’d like to check out some of my commercials, go to Allan’s Work

I think I make a pretty mean John Quincy Adams!

Thank you, Allan, for your time! It was a pleasure having you with us. I wish all the best for your book promotion and looking forward to interviewing you again for your launch
